How to Insert Footnotes in Word 2007



Footnotes are a useful tool to provide additional information or references to the matter within a document. Usually footnotes are superscripted in the form of a number of symbol, the corresponding to which is located at the bottom of the document. The superscripting makes it easier for the reader to identify the added information quickly. This allows him to go through the footnote information quickly and then get back to the main document’s contents.

How to insert footnotes in word 2007:

Ø Within your document, find and click the place that you want to place the insertion point which will contain the reference mark to the footnote.

Ø Go to Ribbon and click the References tab.

Ø Inside the Footnotes section, go to Insert Footnote and click it. Word at this point will insert the reference mark at the point selected by you. It will then automatically scroll down to the bottom of the page to allow you to insert the relevant data.

Ø Type in the information into your footnote.

Ø Once done entering the footnote, right-click on it and select Go to Footnote. This will take you back to the original starting point i.e. the insertion point in the main body and now you can continue working on your document.
